Mission Beach
The hideaway township of Mission Beach is surrounded by a lush backdrop of World Heritage listed wet tropical rainforest, sunkissed white sandy beaches and the silvery shimmering blues of the Coral Sea and Great Barrier Reef.
A picturesque 1.75 hours drive south from Cairns and 2.5 hours north from Townsville through rich cane fields, banana plantations and historic towns, Mission Beach is a unique and unspoilt haven.
Mission Beach is comprised of the coastal settlements of Bingil Bay, Mission Beach (local business area), Wongaling Beach (business precinct) and South Mission Beach ... all only minutes apart.
Mission Beach offers a good level of infrastructure and services including Supermarkets, Restaurants, Resorts, Hotels, Medical Centre, Shopping, Cafés, Art Galleries and various Tours. Essential services include Police, Ambulance, Fire and Schools.
Mission Beach is secluded, yet it is also the perfect base to explore the other wonders of the region; the Great Barrier Reef, Hinchinbrook Island, Dunk Island, Paronella Park at Mena Creek, Atherton Tablelands, Cairns, World Heritage Wet Tropic Rainforest and the Gulf Savannah.

Catch the water taxi across to Dunk Island and explore the miles of walking tracks that criss cross the island through National Park and discover your own secluded island beach.
Mission Beach is also the home of the rare and beautiful cassowary, a flightless rainforest bird found only in the tropical rainforests. Please take care when driving in the area and keep an eye out for this endangered species.
Trips to the Great Barrier Reef from Clump Point enable visitors to experience this natural wonder of the world.
As well, gamefishing, sportfishing and reef fishing are all available by charter, or better still bring your own boat and make Mission Beach your base to explore this magical fishing destination.
For the more adventurous there is white water rafting on the nearby Tully River or tandem skydiving from 10,000 feet onto Mission Beach.
